Talk-Aid
Voice Amplifer for 'low' talkers

Brian from NY
(click on picture for larger image)
Several
times
in assessing learners for AAC devices, I have
come across people
that have very low volume, but they *can* talk
(like Brian,
above). Let me assure
you, as I do the caregivers of such people:
Nothing, I repeat, nothing
will be as efficient and usable as their natural
voice. We just
need to get it louder! That's all.
No AAC. No
learning curve. No device
maintenance. No software
vocabulary building. Just their own
voice.....LOUDER
<grin>. Great for speech therapy,
also!
From Kati C. of NJ,
SLP:
"As a speech
pathologist, I am always
looking for new ideas and technologies to
improve the speech and
language of my students. I have found
that the Talk-Aid is
invaluable in helping students increase
volume during conversations and
group discussions. Those students
using the Talk-Aid appear more
confident when speaking, and in some
students, I have even noticed
improved fluency when using the device!
"The
Talk-Aid is a popular item in
the classroom. It is fun and easy to
use. In fact, even
those students who do not require the extra
assistance of amplified
speech frequently ask for a turn using the
device."
My
Waistband
Amplifier is a slick, over-the-ears,
performer-type
microphone (*very* lightweight), into a
battery-operated
all-in-one amplifier. And it's quite
sufficiently loud! It
comes with a fanny pack waistband and weighs
only . It comes with
6 AA batteries (you can replace with
rechargeable, and can be recharged
right in the unit!). Comes with tie-clip
mike as well as one
pictured above. Also includes
charger! Volume dial is on
the amplifier.
