"I just wanted to let you know that the ipod remote was the best gift that my son got for christmas.  He absolutely loves it. It is one of the only gifts that gives him independence. I just wanted to tell you how much he loves it. Thanks." Wendy H. (mom)

iPods remain one of the hottest technology that has hit in long time.  Unfortunately, no one makes an accessible one.  So I've taken the job to task.  This page is my contribution.  The large green button is 1-3/4" and the smaller buttons are 1-1/4".  They are raised and slightly convex.  The entire face of my Remote is angled at about 20 degrees, thus making for a nice orientation to the user.  (the front edge is 2" above the bottom)

and optional Altec rechargeable speaker

There have been many iPods released by Apple.  Up until the last several generations, my original BBiR operated all of them quite nicely.  But with newer models, I had to search for, and adapt, newer remotes.  It's been a challenge!

Both versions here can control *any* iPod/iPhone/iPad's music (not the menus or videos).  The "DOCK" version has a small white dock that gets its power right from the iPod, and has a speaker/earphone jack in the rear.  CRITICAL: the DOCK version is infrared (IR) and the rear of the BBiR needs to point to the front of the dock.  It's quite forgiving actually, and can work up to about 20 feet.  I choose my parts carefully ;-)

The next version is an, updated, small IR "receiver" that does not cover the earphone jack of your iPod (the original does cover it).  It also works with new and old iPods/iPhones, even iPads!  There is no dock, just a little plug-in 'receiver'.    Personally, I can see getting the DOCK version for a Touch or Classic and the IR version for a Nano.  The big difference between the two is the dock versus the small receiver.  I was surprised by how non-directional the IR is with the IR version!  The only time it did *not* work was if you put the iPod in a pocket.

Inside my BBiR is the actual remote that I adapt.  The outer dimensions of the BBiR are 8" wide x 5" deep x 2" tall at the front and 3" at the back.  Weight is about 1 pound with non-skid 'feet'.

I've even put switch inputs on the rear for performing any of the button functions! (see note below about scanning)

I now offer my Scan-5, a scanning unit that can operate your iPod,  as well as interchangeable modules for TV, DVD, and toys & other devices).

AND...I also now offer my Select-5, which can operate your iPod, as well as interchangeable modules for
TV, DVD, and toys & other devices

If you want to control only your iPod with my device, then the BBiR is enough.  But, if you want to control *other* things also (one at a time), Scan-5 or Select-5 is what you want.

As for *listening* to your iPod, the audio can be heard either through your iPod's regular earbuds, or through an external speaker.

I have researched speakers *extensively* and am offering several.  But I have strict criteria:
1) It must be internally rechargeable, with no batteries for you to change!
2) It must sound good for its price range (bear in mind that my prices are *not* those of Amazon! My speciality is special needs; online resellers sell for lower prices, of course!).

Here are the ones I've chosen (click pics for larger image):
