RJ's Ultimate iPad Case
(works with iPad 2/3! (click here for important disclaimer))

Here's my daughter Courtney these days, being 'all that' with the iPad Ulimate Case in gray/white (read on...)
(Click pics to have them enlarged)

There are some of you that must have the ultimate in protection for your precious iPad.  I do believe my Carry Case+regular Bumper Case provide as much protection as *most* of you need.  But as I say, some of you want more.

Well, this is it. I've purchased and compared all the 'armored' cases I could find.  The Incipio Destroyer was my winner.  I adapt it so that it functions wonderfully as the ultimate iPad Carry Case, with shoulder strap, and Bumper Case for use with my iPad Mounts.

The only problem with the Destroyer, which is *great* for the iPad 1, is that Apple changed the angle of the iPad 2/3's edges, thus making the buttons on the edges more challening to get at.  Unfortunately, Incipio completely redesigned their Destroyer for the iPad 2/3, and it was nothing like the one for the iPad 1!  Darn!  So I had to adapt the one for the iPad 1 to make it desirable and appropriate for iPad 2/3 use.  AND I'VE DONE JUST THAT ;-)

You can easily see the 'cutouts' in the pictures below.  Remember, I put those there in adapting the case for iPad 2/3 use.  They are not there for iPad 1, which didn't need them.

(screenshots on the iPad are of my apps, Spell-A-Word, Point To Pictures, and RadSounds)

                    Ultimate Case's Inner Bladder
The 'gushy' inner bladder; you can see the cutouts we had to make to access all the buttons of the iPad 2/3.
For the iPad 1, the bladder is intact.

Here you can see the rear of the bladder and our cutouts, including one necessary for the rear camera for the iPad 2/3.
Once again, for the iPad 1, the bladder is intact.

The bladder is in the rear shell.  Remember, for iPad 1, we don't cut out any of the bladder because it doesn't need it.

Here's the rear of the Case, showing the hole we put in for iPad 2/3.  iPad 1 doesn't have a camera, so no hole.

Now the front shell is snapped into place, and the edges, which are separate pieces, to absorb shock, are shown at top and bottom.

In go the keyrings, to which the shoulder strap clips will attach.

Now the corner keyrings go in, to provide a place to attach the shoulder strap.  THIS FEATURE IS UNIQUE TO OUR CASE.  ONLY A FEW OTHERS HAVE THIS FEATURE!

Keyrings are in.  Attach the shoulder straps and you have what my daughter is showing at the top of this page :-)

All the above pictures show the black/green case

Once again, the cutouts are necessary for the iPad 2/3's angled edges, in order to get to the volume and power buttons, and the earbud jack.  We don't do the cutouts for the iPad 1.

Important note: Once your iPad is in my iPad Ultimate Case, it takes some doing to get it out.  You must remove the 4 key rings from the corners, and then it pulls apart easily.  But it is NOT an easy-in/easy-out setup.  It is *designed* this way, for ultimate security.  My Carry Case/Bumper Case offers almost as much protection but without the security (or 'hassle' for removal, if you look at it that way).

My Explorations of Most Rugged Cases

I've made short videos with my experiences and I invite you to look through them.

(Disclaimer: I spent a good deal of time doing all this, knowing what's needed by 'our' users, and documenting all of these.  I am *not* going to compete, in pricing, with places like Amazon, eBay, etc.  I charge fair prices and give good value.  I hope you'll consider that when/if it's time to purchase)

I'll start with my Carry Case with Bumper Case.  There are 2 videos to watch.

Next is the Incipio Destroyer. Out of all I've tested, this is the most 'bulletproof' and the one I'll be using for my iPad Ultimate Case.

Next is the Otterbox Defender.  This is the one that a lot of people talk about, but in my experience in came up short.

Now comes an aluminum one by Boxwave.

And here's one called the Kraken! <grin>

The Street Skin next...

That's it!  There are more out there but I only have so much time!

** Courtney, for those interested, is now 14 (going on 19 ;-) , last seen on my website showing my Mini-Auggie, long before there was an iPad.  In 2005, my concept of a 'wearable' AAC device was still fairly new!
