iAdapter Rugged Case/Speaker

Here is the 'blurb' from AMDI, the manufacturer of the iAdapter:
"Protect your iPad with the iAdapter™! This innovative housing is complete with rubberized corners and handle to help protect your iPad from damage. A small slide cover on the front of the housing hides the home button from roaming fingers that will close running applications.
The iAdapter is also an amplifier, with speaker that delivers clean, crisp sound that can be heard in the noisiest setting. It comes with a rechargeable Lithium-Polymer battery, shoulder strap for portability and a plastic stand for tabletop use.
Features:
And now my 'take' on it...
This case provides ultimate protection, as well if not better than my Ultimate Case. Of course, you do pay the price, about 1.5 times as much. I do find the iAdapter a bit bulky. But the main benefit for me is the built-in speaker. Of course, for every plus, there's usually a not-so-plus. In the case of the speaker, there is only an off-Low-High volume switch.
Charging
the built-in speaker is accomplished by plugging the
included USB cable into the iAdapter's control
panel. There is an accessible cutout for the
iPad's 30 sync/charger cable.

A word about the included stand...it's great that it's included, but it's not that stable. In fact, if I push on the iAdapter anywhere along its top edge, the iAdapter actually 'flips' right out of the stand. And the stand is not non-skid. So I strongly recommend considering on of my Tablet Stands.

Looking from rear at the shoulder
strap and 'VESA' mounting screw-holes...
|
...for use in my iAdapter
Device Adapter, a GREAT (and least
expensive!) way to mount the iAdapter on a
wheelchair, desk, or table securely.
|
The included shoulder strap is pretty good! I can't think of anything critical I could say about it ;-) And if you want to mount/secure your iAdapter, I make the least expensive and most flexible systems.
Another
factor to consider is that there are 9 screws to
separate the iAdapter's front/rear shells, and they're
not that easy to remove for a teacher/clinician.
You can see the screw holes in the picture of the
iAdapter's rear, above. If you need to remove your
iPad frequently, then neither the iAdapter nor my
Ultimate Case is a good option. My Carry
Case/Bumper Case Combo or an Otterbox might be
better.

Recently, AMDI added some 'skins' (covers) to spice up the product. I'm offering the skins in 3 colors.
