such as our entire line of special
needs software, that works with a mouse-click, will work.
Description: A large 7" round switch with a switch interface
built into it. Connects directly to
computer. Emulates mouse-click. Light touch
activation required.
The BIG Button is entirely appropriate for special needs,
being similar in nature
to a Big Red. The Big Button sells for $99.

How does the Big Button work with Ke:NX
Don Johnston makes the Discover Switch or Ke:NX (connects)
To use our switch plug it into whole #3.
With the Big Button, will the action effectuated by clicking the switch occur if the user presses the switch but doesn't release right away?
It depends on the software. As far as the computer
is concerned, the Big Button
functions as a mouseclick. Some software activates
upon
mouse*down*, while some activates on mouse*up* events.
Some of our
software is focused on these important events.
Is it possible to attach another switch to the Big Button and still use the Big Button as an interface?
No, but TASH makes a competing product that allows you to do this <http://www.tashint.com>.
I cannot get the Big Button to work, plugged into the USB port on the keyborad of an iMac.
Try plugging the Big Baby Button directly into the side
of the iMac. Remember, the Big Baby Button is not a mouse
and only mimics a left mouse click. Using your mouse,
move your cursor over a folder on the desktop and push on
the Big Baby Button. The folder should turn dark indicating
that it received a mouse click from the button.
How does the Big Button hook up? Do you need to unplug your mouse?
Your Big Baby Button serves only as a mouse click and
should not replace your mouse. Depending on your
connector, the button plugs into the USB port, serial
port or PS2 port. The USB connector on Mac or PC should
make the button work immediately. With other connectors
on a PC you will need to Add New Hardware and use the
Logitec Mouse drivers.
To test that the button is working, use your mouse to
hover your cursor over a folder on your desktop. When you
click the Big Baby Button, the folder should turn a dark
shade.

Why doesn't the package include some form of setup software or device drivers strictly for the button instead of using someone else's mouse driver?
It uses standard MS drivers. We felt that is easiest.
-----------------
Why does it have to be setup as a serial device using an included adapter when it has a PS/2 connector on the end of the cord?
Most people have a PS2 mouse in their PS2 mouse port.
That is why our directions indicate serial.
We include the adapter just in case someone has a serial
mouse and needs to plug the Big Button
into the PS2 port. If it's in the serial, set it
up as serial. If it's going in the PS2, set it up
as the PS2.

Just choose any Standard or Microsoft or Logitech serial
or PS2 driver?

I need to know if the Big Button will be compatible with my computer. I have a IBM Aptiva, with Windows 98. We have had some trouble connecting touch screens to my computer. Could you let me know if the button would be compatible with my computer.
Yes, it will. We do have a 30 day money back guarantee
also. The Big Button
plugs into your serial port and 'looks like a second
mouse'
to your computer, even though it just does a mouseclick.
---------------
Could you please tell me how the cordless button functions. Does it work just like a remote control?
The regular Big Buttons simply 'send' a mouse-click to
the computer,
when pressed. The cordless version simply allows
this to happen without
a cable between the button and the computer. There
is a transmitter
inside the button, and a receiver hooks up to your serial
or PS2 port
which receives the mouseclick.

What type of port does this button require?
Mac: ADB or USB
PC: PS2/Serial or USB
----------
Can the Big Button send mousedown input to the PC or is it limited to a mouse click?
All our buttons and interfaces provide true mouse-clicking.
With our SAM's, we are simply wiring to
the switches themselves on the PC board inside the trackball.
On the Big Buttons, we use the
actual guts of a mouse inside the Big Button (don't steal
my idea now ;-), so as far as the
computer, Mac or PC, is concerned, it's another mouse
attached to it.
The DJI interface for PC goes into the keyboard board,
if I remember correctly, and requires
Accessibility|MouseKeys to be able to do a 'click'.
That's why it works the way it does.
Our's indeed does true mousedown/mouseup events.
I discovered, back in 1987, that it was necessary,
on the old Apple II's, to discriminate between these
events, for many kids. The concept of
reinforcement taking place during mousedown and ceasing
with mouseup, was instituted in our
Children's Switch Progressions in 1987 and continues
with many of our titles to this day.

I'm using Windows 2000 and am having trouble installing the Big Button in my serial port.
Those darn Microsoft people removed some valuable options in 2000. It looks like you will either need our USB Big Button or a PS/2 Y adapter. The Y adapter can be found at www.ymouse.com. Call us for further details.

The Big Button operates as a Right Click on my computer. Is it because I swapped buttons on my mouse? I need to leave the mouse configuration as is, so can the Big Button still operate as a Left Click?
The Big Baby Button is hard wired as a left mouse click.
I believe you have swapped buttons through a software
configuration. We can physically change the wiring for
you. The only charge would be for shipping the item both
ways.
If you have someone who is a teckie and would like to
tackle this himself, we can describe the steps for changing the
wiring.
