The BoomBox I'm currently using supports CD's *and* iPods!  Very cool, baby (said in my best Austin Powers Brit accent ;-)  I adapt the remote, thereby saving the warranty!

Gumball Switch on left for Play/Pause; Compact Switch on right for Next Song; Jumbo Switch also works, as does ANY switch
(NOTE: Switches are OPTIONAL)

You can use 6 'C' batteries to power the unit, or its included AC cord (no power 'brick' :-)
